Registration of political parties revoked

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has revoked the registration of 41 political parties.
A meeting of the commission held on Tuesday has decided to cancel the registration of 41 parties with effect from July 6. According to spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha, only 95 parties are still registered.
The commission has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of the rejected political parties. Spokesperson Shrestha said that the central office bearers of the disqualified parties have decided not to allow other members to be registered with the commission and become office bearers of other political parties until the fine is paid. The names, flags and election symbols of the de-registered parties have been decided to be used by others for one year.
